Being a chef, upon meeting new people, the first question posed is the same old, “What is it that you cook best?” Most times I would be hesitant to respond. Looking back I would have to say everything. Technique without passion and commitment is like an empty soul. Born out of pride the creativity and dedication to the craft is what drives all Chefs to reach the top in their field. Whether you are cooking French, Italian, Asian, or Mexican a solid foundation of technique will allow you to adapt, modify and incorporate new flavors and presentations to induce the exceed the customers’ expectations. In saying that, to me, I cook everything to the best of my ability and the customer is the only one who can decide what it actually is that I do best.
We (chefs) like to think we serve as a model of ethical standards, with an emphasis on responsibilities to each other in the work place. The Chef's Tees project is intended to reach, not just young cooks,but home cooks who have that passion to be more than just a “cook”, self leaders, chefs, and entrepreneurs. Chefs from the onset, following the philosophies from the likes of Lao Tzu and Confucius to Jesus Christ and the founding fathers of the US of A, to Abraham Lincoln and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., are grounded in a moral culture of which they share a set of principles. Its these principles that propelled them to greatness
